Please Describe Your Project In Detail | Fatherhood Training for Young men who have or may be at risk of becoming fathers too soon with minimal close proximity role models. Often these young men are at risk of committing crimes and are also often multiple offenders. We will mentor young men, partner with churches and schools, little league teams, nonprofit and other youth agencies to implement Responsible Fatherhood and Health Male development. programming. |
Please explain how your project meets the requirements of the American Rescue Plan | One of the direct objectives states, "Efforts to reduce and respond to violent crime – particularly gun violence – by investing in community policing, community violence interruption, and other programs that are proven to reduce crime." For the last 20+ years we have received training from and have utilized research verified curricula and training materials from some of the nations top fatherhood and healthy relationship professionals. What milestones would you use to measure your project’s progress? | Re-engagement of trainers we have utilized in the past. Recruitment of new trainers Consistent participation in trainings Satisfactory completion by at least 75-90% of participants Positioning of initial cohort of trained individuals to train another level of mentors |
How would you ensure accountability and transparency throughout the project lifecycle? | Reinforcement of programmatic operations and objectives will be regularly done. Weekly staff reporting would be required for trainers Underachievement will not be accepted Monthly reporting will be mandatory Consistent performance evaluation will be implemented |
If successful, how would your project benefit the community? | The community will benefit by having fathers taking their rightful places in society. Family values will be restored. Communities will be naturally policed by responsible men rather than irresponsible boys. Boys and girls will experience healthy relationships through men who live near them. Schools will have a pool of ready made volunteers and those who are mentored will be trained to handle emotions properly minimizing violent behaviors and contributing to a decrease in violence and criminal behaviors. |
How will you attract community buy-in for your project? | Many church leaders and nonprofit representatives have been requesting this program to return to functionality. There is a database of persons who were being trained prior to the pandemic, many of whom have maintained a continuous relationship and others who have an intermittent relationship with AltSem's trainings. We will execute an all out call to return to training. We will host an advertising campaign to reclaim the former participants and challenge those who we have trained to help us get the word out. |
Is there anything else you would like us to know about your project? | This is a continuation of a project that AltSem has been implementing for years. We have trained hundreds of men and women in the Chattanooga community. |
