Please Describe Your Project In Detail | Pathway Young Adult Program will house youth that have Aged-out of State custody ages 16-25 yrs. old Once they are placed and have an address, Pathway will assist the youth to enroll in school (G.E.D. High School or Vocational School),apply for Food stamps Career Search, Home Life Cooking/Cleaning Parenting and Family Life, Finance and Money Management, Community Service Involvement, bus passes and apply for Medical insurance Health Care Fitness. A mentor will be assigned to them as a Big Brother/Big Sister to help them navigate through the transition and meet their specific goal (s) of being a responsible adult along with the responsibilities that goes along with adulthood. At-Risk youth that are enrolled in grades 9-12 that have been identified by the school as being At-Risk will be referred to Pathways, staff will assess their specific needs academically and a mentor/tutor assigned to the youth. Once a youth is enrolled in Pathway, we will set specific goals for them during the duration of the program. Each Pathway youth will be given $1.00 per day when attending school. If the goal is to improve their grades/conduct, they get the stipend for good behavior and conduct, if not and they are being disruptive and/or suspended, they only get the stipend while they are in school with acceptable conduct/grades. These students can use the funds for themselves or help their family with expenses knowing they are in control of themselves and contributing to their family by this stipend to use as they please. |
Please explain how your project meets the requirements of the American Rescue Plan | The Pathway Program will address disadvantaged youth both in school and out of school giving them access to higher learning getting jobs in the community and a feeling of self-worth.
