Please Describe Your Project In Detail | The Caregiver Awareness Series Project will emphasis, support and provide resources for those that care for others. This will be a 4 week series on the following topics surrounding caregivers: caregiver appreciation brunch, caregiver seminar providing resources to the caregiver, health and wellness week (care for the caregiver), and a care giver advocacy (open forum to share challenges and celebrate successes as a caregiver). |
Please explain how your project meets the requirements of the American Rescue Plan | One important issue is that caregivers’ own health is often over overlooked. This includes both physical and emotional health. As a caregiver, life is often solitary and filled with a series of never-ending medical appointments and responsibilities. At the same time caregivers are also mourning and enduring the suffering of loved ones. In fact, family caregivers have twice the rate of heart disease, diabetes and arthritis as non-caregivers. And given that women are two-thirds of unpaid caregivers, we see lower rates of mammograms and other routine testing. Caregivers are also at increased risk of depression and anxiety |

We will be able to have insights from the website created to project and evaluate the effectiveness of the series. |
How would you ensure accountability and transparency throughout the project lifecycle? | All of the project funding and information will be made public knowledge. We will provide a transparent reflection of the impact and results of the the series. |
If successful, how would your project benefit the community? | With the success of this project will benefit not only the caregivers but the people they help. With the resources and support we provide the caregivers will be able to lead a more stress-free and supportive work life. The caregivers will also come away from this series feeling valued and knowledgeable of what they do. They success of this project is necessary for our community. |
How will you attract community buy-in for your project? | Through positive feed back from current clients as well as the community engagement we currently have in the city. Some professional marketing will be solicited. We plan to also ask for prominent leaders to support and promote the project as well. |
Is there anything else you would like us to know about your project? | As a caregiver with over 20 years of experience, it is important to me that we address the needs of those that are in our community that assist with the care of our families. This pandemic has shown us that care does not start or stop at the hospitals; we need to equip and validate those that provide care in our homes each day. |
