Please Describe Your Project In Detail | St. Alexius Outreach Ministries is a ministry of Alexian Brothers. The Alexian Brothers have been around for over 800 years aiding in the care of the sick and the less fortunate. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, St. Alexius Outreach Ministries partnered with United Way 2-1-1 and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to begin delivering food boxes to individuals in the Chattanooga area. We are able to assist the Food Bank in providing food to an average of 200 households every week. |
Please explain how your project meets the requirements of the American Rescue Plan | This project specifically fits under the subsection "Assistance to Households." Our current need would fit under "Public Health and Safety Staff." As the Covid-19 pandemic has continued, our Mobile Delivery program has grown. The time has come for St. Alexius Outreach Ministries to reach into the community to hire a dedicated driver to deliver food boxes to our beneficiaries while utilizing current Covid-19 safety protocols. |

What portion of the project are you asking the city to fund? | 25,000 |
If funded, when would your project start? | May 1, 2022 |
How long would your project take to complete? | Ongoing project |
What milestones would you use to measure your project’s progress? | We can track the success of our project by the number of food boxes we deliver. |
How would you ensure accountability and transparency throughout the project lifecycle? | As an operating nonprofit organization and religious order we are dedicated to accountability and transparency. St. Alexius Outreach Ministries 990 Forms are available to the general public. Our ongoing presence in the community is a testament to our care and ability to help those in need. |
If successful, how would your project benefit the community? | The Mobile Delivery program has made it easier for families and individuals to get the nutritional services that they need by bringing it to their front door. This has made it easier for individuals that do not have transportation to the food pantry to be able to get the services they need. Since the deliveries are scheduled, beneficiaries can depend on having the food they need. Hiring a driver would give a member of the community employment where they can truly make a difference in people's lives. |
How will you attract community buy-in for your project? | St. Alexius Outreach Ministries has been working on attracting the community to assist us in our missions. With a recently designed website that can now accept donations, better social media outreach, and new calls for volunteers and support, we are increasing our presence in Hamilton County. The Alexian Brothers have always been a "boots on the ground" organization and we hope to really make a difference in the community. |
