Please Describe Your Project In DetailThis project entails helping individuals and families that are homeless to obtain temporary housing while they are in the transition of becoming self-sufficient. We will help them to find employment, apply for other services that they may qualify for. With collaboration with area businesses, churches, foundations, and the city, we envision these individuals becoming productive citizens once again.
Please explain how your project meets the requirements of the American Rescue PlanOur vision is to rescue those who are downtrodden and have no hope. Homelessness is a major concern. These people cannot get any other services or assistance because they do not have an address, ID, or phone, which we can provide for them. We want to make sure our veterans and elderly that are suffering will be taken care of and will be placed on the lower level for easy access. Also, there are many children involved who do not have the comfort, cleanliness, or safety of home. This problem causes many of these children to be at risk of becoming permanently on the street and a target for the criminal element which is so prevalent. It seems to me that if the city can provide one night's shelter for all homeless individuals for thousands of dollars, then our project would be more feasible to implement. With the help of grants, foundations, businesses, churches, and philanthropists we can succeed in changing lives.
Where would your project take place?I have located two ideal buildings with which to implement this project. Choice of two motels that are for sale and the other is a church for sale that will be perfect the day center for day operations and services provided which would include those who desire to remain where they are. We will provide food, clothing, personal items and transportation to and from the day center.
How much will your project cost in total?1250000
Do you have any matching funding sources from other local governments, private entities, non-profits, or philanthropic entities for your project? No
Please describe the source and list amounts of any other funding.
What portion of the project are you asking the city to fund?
If funded, when would your project start?March 21, 2022
How long would your project take to complete?Project will be ongoing until we have done our best to eliminate as much homelessness as possible.
What milestones would you use to measure your project’s progress?1. The number of individuals entering the program
2. The number of individuals obtaining employment
3. The number of individuals able to transition out of the program
4. The number of new individuals entering the program
How would you ensure accountability and transparency throughout the project lifecycle?Accountability of employees to stay on task, and file necessary reports, Cameras are located in strategic locations. Sign out and sign in needed to leave premises for tenants and visitors. Monthly inspection of rooms for cleanliness and no unauthorized individuals living with tenants. Using funds to accomplish the tasks needed.
If successful, how would your project benefit the community? Not only will this project save lives but, the community will be safer and satisfied that something is being done to help the homeless. Many people want to see something done about the situation but, look for someone else to do it. Knowing that someone with children or alone, will not be sleeping under a bridge or in a car to get out of the weather is thankful for this project. We don't propose to have all the answers we just want to do our part to help someone else. This is our passion, to serve.
How will you attract community buy-in for your project? We will make use of newspaper articles, local television spots. visiting businesses, churches, and other assistant agencies to ask for their support of the project.
The support will be a one-time donation, a pledge of monthly and yearly donations. Making the project known is half the battle so public announcements will be important. We will also make use of our mail service by sending out letters monthly to all possible resources.
